유타
주 동남부에 있으며 콜로라도 강과 그린(Green) 강을 끼고 있다. 크게 3개의 지역, "Island in the Sky", "The
Needles"과 “The Maze"로 나뉘어 있다.

그린(Green) 강과 콜로라도 강을 보고 동쪽에 멀리 있는 13,000feet의 눈에 덮인 La Sals (스페인 어로 소금, salt를
뜻함) Mountains를 잘 보았다 (2011년 5월). 여기서 보는 캐니언의 경치는 정말로 장관이었다. 수많은 계곡과 계곡을 이루는 절벽 및
여러
가지 바위의 모양을
보았다. 그린 강은 산소가 부족한 철(鐵)분에 의해 초록(green)색이고; 콜로라도 강 (뜻: 붉은 색)은 붉은 색을 띄우고 있다. 이 두강이
여기서 합류하여 콜로라도 강이 되는데, 미국의 유명한 탐험가 John Powell이 그린 강에서 시작, 콜로라도 강을 타고 그랜드캐니언을
탐험하였다.
The Colorado and Green Rivers began to down cut and are now entrenched in this
canyon. These 2 rivers merge into Colorado River. Green River is "green" in
color partly due to iron with low oxygen, while Colorado(meaning red color) is
"red." Explorer John Powell started his journey from Green River and then
Colorado River; and continued his exploration of Grand Canyon.

passing settlers and travelers.
